Other Great Riding Areas

Below is a map of some of the other snowmobiling areas in the Revelstoke area.

Whether you are looking for a leisurely family ride through some breath taking scenery or you are looking for a challenging ride through some remote areas, you will find them here.

New map coming soon...

Akolkolex & Mt. McCrae
Follow Airport Way south, on the east side of the Columbia River, to the end of the road (approximately 18 km) until it is no longer plowed.

Unload for some great riding on 75 km of roads which go on forever. This is a super area for novice and expert alike.

Mt. McCrae, a small, but challenging area 20 km south of town. Mainly road riding, with a trail to high (9000 ft.) alpine area. Good family ride.

Access to alpine may require a local guide. Riding alt. 3000 - 8000 ft.

Active Logging
Radio controlled road, radios mandatory.

The radio frequency is 153.320.

It is illegal to operate a snowmobile on a plowed logging road.

Hall Mountain Area
Another Good family ride. Drive 40 km. SOUTH on Highway #23.
Cranberry Creek Forest Service Rd. Park off Highway on west side. Take main logging road that heads RIGHT and up the mountain.

Over 30 km of road riding, around COURSIER LAKE. A good ride on a foggy day.

Please STAY OFF THE LAKE. Water levels fluctuate in winter, and ice is unstable.

Keystone / Standard Basin
The "Keystone" is a very popular snowmobile mountain. Certain places in the Keystone / Standard Basin are also prime Caribou habitat. To accommodate both snowmobilers and caribou, the Club has agreed to some snowmobile restrictions in this area.

Free Adobe Acrobat Reader required to view. Use the zoom function to see details.

Stay on the trail leading from the top of the cut block to the towers. The area south of the towers are included in the new restrictions (see map).

In the Standard Basin, restricted zones are the areas south and west of the long ridge (see map).

All restricted areas are well marked along their closure boundary with signs similar to those seen on Frisby Ridge. If caribou are spotted anywhere snowmobile activity takes place, shut your snowmobile off and let the animals leave the area.

NOTICE

The future use of this mountain depends entirely on you, we cannot stress enough the importance of staying out of the restricted areas. The Club has spent a considerable amount of time and effort to keep these mountains open.  The trail into Keystone remains ungroomed as part of the agreement of use for this area.

DO NOT APPROACH ANY CARIBOU

Parking is limited and this is a very large area, for more experienced riders.

Extra gas is a must.

Avalanche equipment is recommended. Large bowls and very long climbs abound. This is a remote region, pack gear accordingly. Watch for caribou, and respect their space.

There is a Forestry cabin in the eastern area, please sign in, and keep it tidy.

Riding altitude: 5500 - 8000 ft.

Wap Lake Road
Approximately 18 kms. WEST of town, on Highway #1, top of the hill, past 3 VALLEY GAP.

Mostly road riding, with access to some new alpine areas. A Guide is recommended for alpine areas.

Caribou Basin
The Caribou Basin Area is about one hour north of Revelstoke on Hwy 23N, accessed from the Goldstream Forest Service Road. This area is only open weekends and statuary holidays. CLOSED MONDAY TO FRIDAY.

Free Adobe Acrobat Reader required to view. Use the zoom function to see details.
